Later this month, you can raise a glass to all of your favorite local breweries for a good cause.
On April 25 and 26 from noon to 5pm, STLBEER (the Saint Louis Brewers Heritage Foundation) plans to host "Community Transmission," a social distancing-friendly event that will raise money for brewery employees who have been furloughed, laid off or had their hours cut due to the COVID-19 crisis.
"Community Transmission" will bring people together digitally through checking in with breweries, learning ways to support the industry and listening to some good music as they raise money for up to 600 people. Each of the 28 participating breweries will team up with a musician or band to broadcast the music.
If some virtual entertainment and the goodwill of donating to those in need isn't enough to entice you, STLBEER is offering a hand-packed mix of local brews and swag from participating regional breweries as a thank-you gift to those who donate $100 online. The boxes will be available for no-contact pickup at Schflafly Bottleworks in Maplewood, Missouri, at a future date. If you want one, act quickly; only 240 are available.
If you just want to help some of your favorite breweries out, you can also make a direct, tax-deductible donation online in any amount.
