Thanks to an upcoming dinner, those with food allergies can dine out worry-free for a night.
On April 29, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, St. Louis Chapter (AAFA-STL) is partnering with Brennan's Work and Leisure and local chef Tyler Davis for a curbside dinner event that will be free of traces of the top eight food allergens: eggs, soy, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, crustacean shellfish, dairy and wheat.
The meal is $30 for an adult ticket, featuring a menu of Moroccan-spiced chicken, chickpea salad with roasted mushrooms and garlic braised greens. A $20 kids meal is also available, which includes orange chicken, cauliflower rice and steamed broccoli. All meals will be picked up from Brennan's Work and Leisure between 3 and 6:30pm the day of the event.
"I'm very excited about this allergen-free dinner," Davis says. "I wanted to pick really flavorful, healthy options for diners to enjoy, and leaned more toward Asian flavors, lots of citrus, and items that were fun, but still approachable."
Each meal also has available add-ons, which are also free of the top eight allergens. Opt for a vanilla cupcake with lemon-raspberry "buttercream" and fresh raspberries for dessert, or imbibe with a cocktail made with vodka, elderflower liqueur and lime juice.
In addition for being a worry-free evening for those with allergies, 25 percent of each meal and 20 percent of add-ons purchased will go to AAFA-STL, which has been serving those affected by asthma and allergies in the St. Louis region through education, support and resources for over 40 years.
