Diners and drinkers in Kansas City have a diverse new range of options across the metro. The elegant, modern Crossroads Hotel debuted its centerpiece restaurant with Lazia this month, with chef Remy Ayesh constructing the menu for the refined, modern Italian concept. Nearby in the Westside, chef Carlos Mortera (The Bite) is serving up wood-fired chicken with his father, also named Carlos Mortera.
Beer drinkers will find a lot to like at both the burger-centric Burg & Barrel in Leawood as well as at the brand-new brewery Limitless Brewing in Lenexa. Also in Lenexa, Silo Modern Farmhouse is serving American comforts with golf club views. In Overland Park, diners can revisit Plaza III Steakhouse in its new, more southerly location.
Breakfast and brunch restaurant Elly’s Brunch and Café has closed on the South Plaza, as will the original location for Thou Mayest Coffee Roasters. Thou Mayest plans to open in a new “flagship” location next year.
In December, diners can first expect to visit the long-awaited bar and restaurant The Campground (located in the former Genessee Royale space), which opens Monday, along with Local Pig and Pigwich’s new spot in the City Market.
