The day is almost here: Shake Shack plans to open its first Kansas City location on Thu., Sept. 6 at 11am.
Located at 239 W. 47th St. on the Country Club Plaza, the brand-new Shake Shack will feature all the favorites that have won the restaurant fans across the country, including smashed burgers, griddled flat-top hot dogs, freshly made frozen custard and crispy crinkle-cut fries.
As at other locations, the Kansas City Shack will offer a few items unique to this location, including three exclusive concretes, one made in collaboration with a local business. These include the Pie Oh My (vanilla custard with a slice of Ashleigh's Bake Shop seasonal pie), Strawberry Country Crunch (vanilla custard, strawberry purée, sugar cone and banana) and Shack Attack (chocolate custard, fudge sauce, chocolate-truffle cookie dough and Mast Brothers Shake Shack dark chocolate chunks, topped with chocolate sprinkles).
Diners can wash their burgers down with beer from local favorites Boulevard Brewing Co., Torn Label Brewing Co. and Crane Brewing Co.; Shake Shack's own ShackMeister Ale made with Brooklyn Brewery will be on tap, too. The restaurant also offers its own red and white wines through the Gotham Project.
The Kansas City location will donate all proceeds from its soft opening, as well as 5 percent of sales from the Pie Oh My concrete going forward, to the Young Friends of Art organization through the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
Doors open at 11am, and the first 100 people in line will receive a custom T-shirt. And if Shake Shack's opening in St. Louis last year is any indication, you can expect a line around the block.
